About WacoProspector.com...

WacoProspector.com has been a catalyst for real estate transactions in McLennan County since February 2007. Real estate professionals, landowners, and site selection specialists alike can access the site either through the Greater Waco Chamber web site WacoChamber.com or directly at WacoProspector.com at no cost.  The site, developed by GIS Planning was initially designed to address these three questions:

               1) Is there available property?
               2) What are the specifics of this building/site?
               3) What nearby businesses and demographics define this area?

Since its inception, however, WacoProspector.com has grown to address not only these questions, but a great deal more. An abundance of new tools are now available that provide users with the information needed to make fact-based decisions in real time. Below you will find basic usage instructions. Additional information can be found in the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page, or by contacting the Greater Waco Chamber directly.

Search for Available Buildings or Land

To search for building space or developable land you can enter your minimum and maximum size requirements by square feet or acres. If relevant, you can narrow the search by selecting properties that are for lease or sale only. You can further refine your search clicking a property type (or CTRL-clicking multiple types).  Once your desired search criteria has been entered, simply click “Search Properties” and WacoProspector.com will query the database for the information combination you have entered.  A list of properties meeting these criteria can now be found listed below the map on the right portion of the screen.  Selecting any of these properties will take the user into a significantly more detailed description of this property.  You can also select multiple properties and choose to “Save Sites” at the bottom of the list (please note there may be multiple pages of sites in groups of 20) to store potential candidates.  For your convenience and offline use, this information can also be exported to Word, Excel, or PDF format, emailed to an interested party, or linked to through a social networking medium by utilizing the buttons found above the map space, on the right side of the page.

Create Demographic or Business Reports

Once you have selected a property you can create site-specific demographic or business reports by clicking on the tab near the top of the detailed listing.  You will then be prompted to select the type of report you wish to create and a distance (radius) from the property you would like to search within. There are multiple reports available, and this information can also be exported or saved for your use.

Interactive Mapping

Properties are linked to interactive maps that display geographic information such as the locations of roads, rail, flood plain, educational institutions, and more.  These layers can be manipulated without running a property search, but all remain available to the user once a detailed site has been selected.  All of the maps are completely interactive, can be manipulated in real time, and the information displayed is determined by the website user.
